Astoria Pastry Shop in Detroit

The young man that worked behind the counter twisted his face oddly at me for asking for a chocolate dipped caramel apple. Replying we don't have that and I've never heard of it! The food was good in tiny portions I had Baklava a chocolate cake slice and caramel apple.

Very seldom do I rate anything 5 stars this place is an exception. The shop is brimming with traditional and modern bakery sweets all of which I've tried have been positively amazing. The atmosphere is amazing as one of the many diamonds in the rough of the downtown Detroit area, very well kept and clean. It is very clear from entering the door that the purveyors of this confectionary establishment take their passion very seriously.

Delicious pastries that make you feel decadent ! I’m particularly passionate about the chocolate-dipped macaroons that are large enough to break in two and share with a friend! I recommend dipping the cooks in a piping hot cappuccino that’s topped with extra foam !! Indulge !! You are SO worth it !!

Everything looked amazing but we didn't love our choices. The tiramisu was watery, the cake seemed as though it had been sitting out for hours uncovered getting hard edges. We would consider trying again but definitely choose different items and hope for a better outcome.

This is a good pastry shop. They had a lot to offer and their prices were decent. If you’re in Greektown this would be a good place to stop however there are better places in Detroit. Well their selection is definitely their strength the atmosphere is not great in there. There’s just not a ton of room to sit and enjoy yourself.

5-star pastry shop! The Cannoli and Chocolate Eclair were so good! And many many more authentic European/ assorted beautiful desserts displayed in the shop I want to try then all! There were a lots of customers in the shop buying their favorite pastries. Love it!

My little one wanted ice cream and I’m always on the look out for a good chocolate chip cookie (at least in my cheat phase). More desserts than I can describe. They even have ice cream they make in house. The cookie was surprisingly delicious (I haven’t had much luck with chocolate chip pecan cookies)

Everything they make is delicious. Popped in for some pastries. Staff is friendly and helpful. So many things to choose from. Don't go in hungry because you will want one of everything.

Going there is always a fun experience! The pastries are always good. The reason for the four stars is the cupcake was a bit of a downer. The cake was a bit dry and the icing was gummy and not soft. It still tasted good though.

Infinity options of sweeties for you. They have so many delicious things.... From ice creams to macaroons. Definitely a good spot to have desert after eating downtown Detroit.

Impressively quick service for how packed this place was. Take a number when you arrive and spend the next 3-5 minutes deciding what you want. Your items go in a box with tightly wrapped string. Delicious baking!

Stopped by today and a family with small and teen children (about 9) total were in -not one mask, touching the glass and no risk management what so ever. No one questioned their disregard for public health. Won't return to business where EVERY CUSTOMERS safety is not a priority. Went to Shatillas and got good healthy professional service and delishious baked goodies for a better price.

Anytime we are in Greektown we go to Astoria Bakery. My wife isn’t even a fan of pastries and she still loves this place. I always go with the Oreo cheesecake and my wife always gets the Key Lime cheesecake. Make sure to check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Such a cute pastry shop with awesome goods and fairly decent prices! Loved just walking in even before I tasted anything, but was impressed with their bakery items as well.

Love this place! All of their desserts are great. My husband and I came here for dessert on valentine's day 2020 and I had the macarons for the first time and they were delicious.

Absolutely delicious! Very clean, friendly staff and reasonable prices!

I take my grandkids here four times a year, we take the people move downtown and then we get out and have deserts and go home great date place.

I always stop here when I'm in Detroit. It's a great bakery with friendly service. The selection is absolutely fantastic. From several different kinds of cheese cake to chocolate covered canolli, they have it all. If you can't find something you like here, then you are just too picky. I've never been disappointed by anything I've bought here. It's all been delicious!!! If you are in Detroit or even near there, I would absolutely highly recommend the Astoria Pastry Shop. They are open late too.

We walked in and it seemed pretty busy. We heard this is voted as Michigans Best bakery every year.... they were OK but not the Best. We got a ham and cheese croissant and a turkey and cheese croissant. All of the desserts have food coloring and use artificial flavors and they warmed our croissants with the microwave. In our opinion, radiating our food was a perfect way to ruin a nice treat. There are way better bakeries in Michigan that make everything from scratch and use better quality ingredients.

Nice pastry shop with good collection

This is a great bakery! On our vacation to Detroit, we shopped for our sons birthday cake here. We got him a chocolate cake with chocolate filling and it was so delicious! My son was super happy and loved it since he is a chocolate lover! The cake was fresh, moist, and decorated nicely. The bakers were super friendly and helpful. They have a more fancy great-quality type of cakes. By far, the best cake we've bought in a few years! They have a huge cookie/pastry selection too if you'd like to buy by slice/portion. Overall, a great place and delicious pastries. The only thing is that it was hard to find parking since there are some bars at the corner of the block and it was a game day! But amazing place and affordable!

Very good, I love going there! The pastries are great tasting and good quality, clean and in a beautiful area. I love sitting in to chat a while enjoying a good cup of coffee and something sweet.

Omygod accidentally found this bakery open until 1am. A must to try. I had the carrot bread pudding w pineapples simply delicious.This place has every dessert you could think of. Be sure to take a number lines out of this world

This I one of my favorite bakery’s in Detroit. It’s super busy on the weekends but it’s worth standing in line.

I really really wanted to like this place. It looks amazing, and has a ton of options. I tried the carrot cake and lemon poppyseed muffin. I was not impressed with either. The carrot cake itself was very dry and the frosting was very light on the cream cheese.The muffin was also dry.Some of my friends got other desserts and loved them. I'm sure they have great items, just not what I tried.

We usually get the same thing here because what we get is so good. They have a large assortment of pastries, cookies, cakes and ice cream. Friendly staff. The floor could have been cleaner.Chocolate cannoli- delicious Turtle brownie - delicious

Love to grab a desert for at home after enjoying one of Greektown’s restaurant German chocolate cake is my favorite canolies seem to get into my box and I try something else from time to time when I’m in Greektown this place calls out my name every time

Every time I'm in the area I stop here and get a few goodies, its a very fun shop with lots to offer and even when they are crazy busy I never have a problem getting through the line in a timely manner. Haven't had anything bad yet! Its also incredibly fun when you are out late and get some late night treats to end your evening. Nothing like cannoli's at 2am!

I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a place with macarons, and they had them there! Their dessert there is the best I've ever had! I could eat their macarons all day! 🤤

I was really excited when we walked into this place, everything looked great! My mom and I decided on the chocolate mousse and some baklava. The baklava was good, not overwhelmingly sweet and dripping in honey. The chocolate mousse on the other hand was basically chocolate pudding with older whipped cream on top. It felt like it had been sitting for a few days. We were quite disappointed with the mousse and didn't eat it all.

Great place for dissent. There are so many options. Their carrot cake was amazing. The Macaroons were pretty good as well. The portions can be pretty decent size so be sure to leave some room

I came in for lunch and let me just say it was the best lunch I've had in a while! My server Erik was polite and attentive! We never had to ask for a refill as he anticipated our needs which was amazing and really made our experience awesome.We ordered the gambas appetizer and it was soooooo good. It has a little kick to it but it the baguette it comes paired with brought the heat down.

Excellent selection, and patient staff. You will definitely be overwhelmed if this is your first time here. The goods are fresh, and full of flavor. They also offer coffee drinks, though there isn't a clear menu for the drinks. The seating area is very small and limited, so definitely come with the expectation to take your order to-go

The pastries here are amazing. I dropped a star because the coffee is weak. And the espresso drinks are not hot enough.Check out the pictures of the pastries though.
